I configured a system with an ASUS P6T SE motherboard, Intel i7 950 CPU, two ATI HD4870 video boards, 6 GB of RAM, and 3 internal Western Digital disks plus a few miscellaneous items. It works well.
Drawback: the video boards are so thick that they cover up the adjacent PCIe slots so I had only room for one tiny parallel interface board at the far end of the motherboard. No room to add other boards.
Drawback: I want to run RAID 1 (which the ASUS documentation describes as an option) but there is not enough information to explain how to do this without reinstalling all the software and data on the disks from scratch.
Feature: the MB has lots of ports, mostly SATA.
Feature: the MB has a "power is on" LED on it, to remind me that I haven't fully powered down the system when I go in to make changes.
